Another Goal Reached!

Since last year one of my main goals was to get my work into a lovely little quarterly publication called CMYK.
Today I received notice that two of my photos will be in issue #34, the tenth aniversary issue!
I'm so proud of these two little shots I could burst. My next goal is to get in 3 more times!

CMYK publishes a portfolio of around 20 images, usually one per selected photographer in each issue, along with portfolios of the best advertising, design, and illustration.
It's really a great magazine and you can read more about it here.

01/06

Shot with a 35mm wide angle on my Mamiya 645AFD medium format, on Fujifilm Provia 100 reversal film, cross processed through C-41 chemistry, printed traditionally on CDII Matte paper. Originally presented as a series of eight traditional prints.

Scanned in on a flatbed scanner, retouched the dust off, and made slight color corrections from crappy scanning, then posted. The color is from the cross processing and not digital in origin. Hope you enjoy the series!

These are from my first critique at SCAD (I'm a transfer student). My teacher called them Skater Punk Trash (funny, because of me, nor most of the subjects being none of those things), but gave me an A- anyway. She's sort of a fine art purist, I guess.

Even if you don't have someone this Valentine's Day, be open to showing the love for the world around you.
I give everyone my best wishes.

I shot 15 more rolls of film today, scanned 18 prints, and cleaned my room. I won't always be posting final work, but here's an unedited film scan that I'll probably never do anything more with.

This is not an art or Photo-J post today, just a little informative one. District, the student newspaper I shoot for in my spare time was awarded first place for general photographic excellence in our category at the GCPA Awards this year. I'm damn proud of our paper!

We also picked up a few other awards, although they sort of slip my mind at this second. I know one was for reporting on feature stories.

Yesterday was my birthday, and I shot a lot of film. Even though updates may not be the most reliable lately, rest assured, photos are being made.

Here are a couple shots from an improv performance I shot at SCAD. On a side note, I am now 20.

Starting with the film work now.
This was originally two medium format transparency shots put in front of each other to make one image. In order to get it on the computer I had to scan them separately. It looks pretty much the same though, though it has lost some of it's depth and vibrant nature.

Starting with film scan updates tommorow. Some weird stuff, some boring stuff. None of it is actual project work yet, just to show you what I've been shooting in free time. The project work is going to take a bit longer to get to you because of it's connected nature and because of how much color correction matters, etc.
