David "Crazy Dave" Zennie asked me to take a quick picture for his facebook profile today. Coming up I might have some pictures from Basecamp (last weekend), Bailey giving haircuts (And related random shots), and a few other random around the campus shots. This blog is more about what is going on in my life than actually being 100% creative photography. I'll try to mix more of that in as I start doing more photo work and less drawing.

The last shot, was used in the interior of the article on the Psychotronic Film Society. This shot was used for the picture on the cover of last weeks issue, and for the picture on the online version of the article, which you can read here.

I got some really cheap macro extension peices for a project I'm working on and took some shots to test them out.

A snapshot of Paul for his facebook profile.

Below are photos from an event called the Gender Bender Ball that was held at the Oglethorpe Ballroom. I covered the event for District. 8 photos are posted here (7 backdated, so you can look at my main page to find those). You can see the full event coverage here.

I processed these photos with intent to have high contrast and saturation, to sort of give it a grunge underground feel. I hope you enjoy them.

I have to do a lot of drawing for foundations classes. I don't really like it because I'm not really good at it. This is one of the first drawings I've ever done. It took me a darn long time.

SCAD Radio

What do I do besides photography? (Of which I'll be backdating a bunch of entries real soon, since I haven't been active)

Well, I do homework, and I do SCAD Radio. Drawing homework is not interesting at all. I am very bad at drawing, and only trying to get better so I can pass foundations classes and get my fine arts peice of paper. Composition, I appreciate. I've been thinking about possibly minoring in creative writing. We'll see if I have enough time. For color theory, I've been doing some interesting projects, you've seen some of that. In my free time (which doesn't really exist), I shoot for District, the student paper, and DJ a radio show on SCAD Radio. Sometimes, I read or sleep, but usually neither, these days. In any case, here is a snapshot of me at SCAD Radio. My shift is Mondays from 6-8pm, though I'm filling in for someone else on this Friday from 8-10AM as well. You can listen over the internet if you have a high speed connection.

Ben Folds

I shot a live Ben Folds show for District, which was a great experience. He's always a great live performer, and while I wish I had more creativity to do him justice, the show was amazing and I've got some great memories now in picture form.

Here is a woman who works at a Planned Parenthood in GA. I shot her as part of an assignment for District.

A picture I took on Tybee Island while watching someone pay for a pizza.

A second quickly grabbed shot from Tybee Island.

Wednesday, October 5, 2005

I was shooting at a beach for some photos for District, and I shot some sunset/cloud photos for myself. I work hard on weird and interesting lighting shoots, but love to just look up and see a wonderful sunset or cloud formation. The sky is highly underapreciated.

The assignment shot.

Another person who showed up to watch while I was shooting.

Here's a shot of one of my assistants from the shoot. One of the few perks of assisting me, as anyone who has done it before knows, is that I usually use you to test light or just pass a couple minutes while waiting for makeup, costume, or model, etc. You could very easily end up in the hotseat, so to say.

The first of the lighting work!

Here is a shot of the model before we started shooting or preparing or anything. I set up the lights before anything else, just turned them on without any really specific fiddling because we were shooting at night and had no real light otherwise. I saw this shot while he was talking to someone and made him stop for a second so I could take it. I love light. You'll soon see shots of my assistants and of a couple random onlookers who I pulled aside while my model's hair was getting done. Then you will see the final product. I hope you stick around!

The photo of the man sleeping was published on the upper right corner of the latest issue of district. This photo was published on the inside of the newspaper next to the article. I finally shot some things with lighting! You'll see a stream of photos starting tommorow.

This is more of a snapshot, of Carolin helping me out with a frame we just freed of a bad crappily made canvas and which I later used to put a better one on. Hoorah.

Some more clouds for my grandma.

I just updated entries for the last few days, so check out the frontpage if you haven't seen them. Here's an older shot of Rin, my good buddy whom I miss very much. I just had my first shift at Scad Radio as a DJ, and he kept me company over the official aim name.

Here's another shot for District, for an article on student sleeping habits.

I received news of a print of mine that has gone up in a Gallery Exhibition. It's called "Selects" and is hanging in the office of Senator Stan Rosenberg, State House, Room 320, Boston, MA. It will be up till October 31st, 2005. So if you are in the MA area, maybe you could check it out along with all the other great work up there. Here is the print that they chose:
